Lambert Creek Scheduled Maintenance

Buckthorn removal at Kohler Bend on Lambert Creek will be occurring later in late August or early September, weather permitting. The enclosed map shows the work area identified in yellow.

This area was part of a grant-funded restoration project that was completed in 2017 to protect the creek banks and prevent erosion. Buckthorn has reestablished in the area. VLAWMO hired a crew to cut and treat buckthorn this year, and we are working with a local company to continue with ongoing annual maintenance going forward. Please see the map on the reverse page for an outline of where maintenance will be taking place. VLAWMO coordinates closely with the City of Vadnais Heights on all creek maintenance projects.

This maintenance is required per the project maintenance agreement VLAWMO entered into with the Minnesota Board of Water & Soil Resources to complete the project with state grant funds.

The Ramsey County Institutional Community Work Crew (ICWC) was selected to complete the work. They have an excellent track record, have worked in this area before, and will be conducting the buckthorn removal following COVID safety guidelines for social distance.

What to expect:

The project is currently scheduled for August 28th, 2020. The project is weather dependent, so will be rescheduled if necessary. During the workday, trucks and workers will be visible on streets, along the creek, and passing through yards when necessary. No action is required from residents.
