Lambert Creek Spring Maintenance

On Friday, May 11th, 2018 1.5 miles of Lambert Creek were cleaned between Pennington Place down to Snail Lake Regional Park. Two crews of 10 worked about 8 hours each to get the job done - one from Lino Lakes and another from Shakopee. The water level was shown to have dropped about one foot in the working area, due to two major dam blockages (fallen trees) being removed. Debris was strategically side cast onto the banks, and VLAWMO staff will be attentive to creek flow and needs to ensure project success. Below is an example of a creek segment before and after cleaning.

This cleaning prepares the creek for high flows from heavy summer rains. Projects like this will be conducted on an as-needed basis. For more information on the most recent Lambert Creek studies see pages 63-77 of our 2017 monitoring report. Contact us at (651) 204-6070 for questions.
