VLAWMO's 2016 Water Policy Update

Along with VLAWMO's 2017-2026 Comprehensive Water Plan being adopted by the VLAWMO Board of Directors on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, an updated Water Management Policy was adopted, as well. This updated Water Management Policy serves to implement the principles and objectives of the WMO, as outlined in the Comprehensive Water Plan. Being an organization formed by a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) with VLAWMO's 6 member cities, the Water Management Policy establishes water standards for development and activities affecting water resources within the Watershed. VLAWMO's 6 member municipalities include White Bear Township, Vadnais Heights, North Oaks, White Bear Lake, Gem Lake and Lino Lakes.

Because the Vadnais Lake Area WMO is not a permitting agency, it is the responsibility of its JPA members to incorporate these principals into their own Local Water Plans (LWPs).  VLAWMO's preferred position is to provide professional oversight and confirmation of aligning policies within LWPs.
